Reiki is a non-invasive, natural method of healing that promotes and accelerates the balance of body, mind and spirit. It's not a religion or belief system, but an ancient science that was lost for thousands of years.

Reiki was rediscovered in the mid-1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui, a minister and dean of a Christian seminary, as a result of his research into the healing methods used by Jesus and Buddha. The Japanese word Reiki translates as "universal life force energy."

A Reiki treatment is a method for connecting this energy with the body's innate powers of self-healing. The energy is taken into the body at the cellular level and induces a relaxation response; at the chemical level, it releases certain neuropeptides (or messengers) which send healing wherever needed, whether at the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual levels.
